Brainstorming

  • Generate lists of ideas around:
    • Potential topics
    • Ways to break down a larger topic into something more manageable
    • Interview questions
    • Subtopics to research
    • Potential titles

Organizing

  • Paste in a thesis and notes, and then ask for options to organize those ideas.
  • Ask for five ways to organize a given topic.
  • Paste in key points and ask AI to suggest ways to organize them.

Drafting

  • Paste in a thesis or topic sentence and notes, and then ask AI to produce a draft of a smaller section of a larger paper.
  • Use premium products, like Packback or Khanmigo, to guide students through the writing process while providing ongoing feedback.

Editing

  • Use spellcheckers.
  • Use grammar checkers, like Grammarly.
  • Consider suggestions before accepting them.

Revision

  • Paste in a draft and ask for suggestions to improve fluency, transition, and support/evidence.
  • Provide targeted prompts to critique an existing draft:
    • What arguments am I overlooking?
    • Are any of my arguments biased?
    • What arguments need stronger support or better evidence?
