Tech Talk For Teachers December 22, 2021 12 min

Happy Holidays from Tech Talk For Teachers and AVID Open Access! We wish you a joyous and fulfilling holiday season. We hope you are able to take some time away from school and work to rest, recharge, and engage in some well-deserved self-care. We have a special series of short episodes to commemorate this past year, as we take a little break to celebrate the holidays. Join us for fun and reflection, where laughter, song, and warm camaraderie take center stage.

These episodes are in a shorter format, where each of our hosts take a turn to reflect on the year and highlight their favorite episode. Thank you for joining teachers around the world who have helped Tech Talk for Teachers reach nearly 190,000 downloads. We appreciate all you do!

Build Your Self-Care Toolkit for the Holidays

Rena Clark shares Episode 33, How to Prioritize Self-Care: Developing Your SEL Toolkit.

As Rena reflects on the holiday season, she shares some of her favorite insights from this episode with our special guest, Cherie Spencer, Social and Emotional Learning Coordinator in Galveston, Texas. In this episode, the team unpacks the steps that we need to take to stop, define, and build a personalized self-care toolkit. Our holiday message to teachers: Be kind to yourself. Give yourself the gift of grace that you extend to others.

Teachers are givers. Sometimes, we give so much, so often that we forget to give ourselves grace and compassion. In this podcast episode, we reflect on the need for self-care—how we can overcome our self-inflicted, self-care bias; find time to stop and identify what we need to avoid burnout; and create a space, physical or mental, to recharge.
