Tech Talk For Teachers December 15, 2021 10 min

Happy Holidays from Tech Talk For Teachers and AVID Open Access! We wish you a joyous and fulfilling holiday season. We hope you are able to take some time away from school and work to rest, recharge, and engage in some well-deserved self-care. We have a special series of short episodes to cap off this past year, as we take a little break to celebrate the holidays. Join us for fun and reflection, where laughter, song, and warm camaraderie take center stage.

Our next three episodes will be a shorter format, where each of our hosts reflects on the year and highlights their favorite episode. Thank you for joining teachers around the world who have helped Tech Talk For Teachers reach nearly 190,000 downloads. We appreciate all you do!

Remembering Cultural and Ethnic Identities During the Holidays

Dr. Winston Benjamin shares Episode 39, Accelerating Learning With Culturally Responsive Teaching.

He invites listeners to think about how we can help students celebrate the holidays while recognizing various cultural communities that exist in your classroom. It’s important to remember that there are different cultural groups expressing their ethnic and cultural identities through their holiday celebrations.

We ask our listeners to think about the ways that we can build cultural connections amongst our students. Consider how you can help students celebrate and learn about other communities, providing them with doors and windows into communities that are different from their own.
