Engage Students Through Inquiry Learning

Students need to do more than answer questions. They need to know how to ask them and how to find credible answers. Students are inherently curious, and when they ask the questions in the learning process, they are instantly more invested, motivated, empowered, and engaged.

In this collection, we’ll introduce you to the ANSWERS inquiry process. By utilizing the strategies embedded in this process, you can get your students to think critically, ask higher-order questions, and effectively search for and find answers. This process is flexible and can be adapted for any subject area and used for both quick inquiries that are part of a short lesson as well as for more complex and longer inquiry projects. The process has students begin by asking questions, and it concludes with students sharing their learning with others in creative ways. Our first article will introduce the process, and then we’ll follow up with articles that take a deeper dive into each of the seven steps.
