Overview
In July 2023, Anthropic released Claude 2, a significant new player in the generative artificial intelligence (AI) field. Claude 2 functions much like the other leading AI chatbots—Google Bard, ChatGPT, and Microsoft Bing Chat—allowing users to ask questions and submit prompts in conversational language. Similar to ChatGPT, it is not connected to the live internet, but its dataset does extend a year longer, through December 2022. Claude 2 also includes several unique features that set it apart from the other generative AI tools and may be the best generative AI choice for tasks that take advantage of these features.
Unique Features
- Claude 2 is trained on data through December 2022.
- It allows for up to 75,000 words of input.
- It also allows for the upload of five documents of 10 MB each.
- Claude 2 attempts to be safer and less biased through Constitutional AI.
Integration Ideas
Claude 2 is a great choice for anyone looking to work with larger datasets. The significantly larger 75,000-word prompt limit opens up options to paste in very large pieces of text, like lengthy reports or short novels. The document upload option builds on this capability by prompting the AI to scan and analyze the contents of up to five documents at once. This can help users to make connections across documents. In addition to using Claude 2 for rewriting content at various reading levels, it is a great option for summarizing longer documents, which can be a great time-saver. The focus on safer and less biased results may also help in ensuring that generated materials are appropriate for younger learners.
