“AI isn’t coming. It’s already here.”
This statement, posted at the top of the Day of AI website, sums up current conversations about artificial intelligence (AI) quite well. Since the public introduction of ChatGPT from OpenAI in November 2022, generative AI has dominated the headlines, and it seems to have already touched nearly every aspect of our lives.
To introduce our students to AI and help them become future leaders in this transformational technology, MIT RAISE is sponsoring the Day of AI on Thursday, May 18, 2023.
To participate in this event and gain access to a free curriculum library of hands-on lessons and activities, educators must complete the registration form on the Day of AI website.
These resources were developed by a team of researchers at MIT RAISE and were designed to be taught by educators with little or no technology background. Lessons can be embedded in all subject areas and disciplines. Up to 4 hours of lessons and activities are available for each grade level, and activities can be run in 30- to 60-minute blocks of time. Teachers who register for Day of AI not only gain access to the curriculum and lesson plans, but they also have access to optional free professional development training.
While the official event is set for Thursday, May 18, schools can continue to use these free resources after that date.
The following is an overview of the free curriculum provided by MIT RAISE on the Day of AI website.
