Help Students Take Ownership of Their Digital Lives

Digital citizenship can’t just be summed up through a long list of don’ts. To be impactful for our students, it should also be about the dos that help create empathetic digital citizens, who can harness the power of technology and create positive experiences for themselves and those around them. During a time when most students are learning via a remote or hybrid model, digital citizenship becomes even more critical to help empower learners as they coexist in online spaces. The importance of these lessons learned inside of the classroom cannot be overstated, as they will have widespread, real-world implications for students as they interact—both knowingly and unknowingly—with a global community online.

This collection of articles illustrates how digital citizenship is more than a conversation about personal responsibility online. It’s really about how we help our students use technology to become active digital citizens, who see the possibilities of technology, solve problems, and curate a positive and impactful digital footprint.
