Entry Points Into Machine Learning

In today’s episode, we’ll explore three resources that you can use to introduce machine learning to your students: Google’s Teachable Machine, micro:bit’s CreateAI, and Grammarly’s guide to machine learning.

Teachable Machine (Google)

  • This is a free, browser-based tool.
  • Train a computer to recognize images, sounds, or poses.
  • Test the program once you’ve trained it.

CreateAI (micro:bit)

  • Like Google’s Teachable Machine, this is also a free, browser-based tool.
  • It is used in conjunction with the micro:bit device:
    • Pocket-sized computer
    • Built-in accelerometer, compass, and microphone
  • Train a program to recognize movements.
  • Take it further with Microsoft MakeCode.

  • This offers browser-based learning materials.
  • It provides overviews of how machine learning works:
